Interested in building mobile apps but don’t have mobile app developers on staff? Braum’s Ice Cream & Dairy Stores felt the same pain. The way the company saw it, they could either hire mobile developers, outsource development or find a platform they could train their existing team to use. Given the choice, Paul Clark, Braum’s CIO, preferred the last option.
Mobile: The Golden Ticket
Braum’s is one of the largest dairy operations in the world to use milk from its private herd to produce ice cream, bottled milk and other dairy products. The products are sold in 280 Braum’s stores across Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas and Kansas.
District and area managers are responsible for overseeing the store’s day-to-day operations and ensuring customer needs are met. However, the only way they could access back-office reports and customer satisfaction surveys were from a PC in-store or their desk at corporate headquarters. Clark knew a mobile strategy was imperative for getting real-time data into the hands of on-the-go district and area managers.
Digital Transformation Success
After hearing about the LANSA mobile app development platform at a conference and learning a 30-day trial was available, Clark asked Ezra Daniels, senior programmer to give it a try. With no prior mobile app development experience, Daniels accepted the challenge. In no time, he built an iOS mobile app to replace the company’s paper-based customer feedback program.
Daniels said, “Through the templates and examples in the LANSA platform, a detailed user guide and a few support calls, I was able to quickly learn. It did not take me long to build our first app”.
That’s not all Daniels was able to do.
