Marsh in the UK provides clients with the full spectrum of risk and insurance products and solutions and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh, the world’s leading insurance broker and risk adviser, with over 24,000 employees and clients in over 100 countries. Marsh is a member of Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC), a global professional services firm with over 50,000 employees worldwide and annual revenue of $10 billion.
Marsh uses a custom developed RPG-based system to support its business in the UK and is using aXes to enable web access by third party brokers to its Client Management and Financial applications that deal with the administration of fiduciary payables and receivables for premium/claim transactions, payments and inventory administration. aXes also provides access to the administration of client, carrier, broker and partner information, carrier classification and client visit planning for certain contracts.
aXes provided a robust solution in an environment where Marsh could save cost by combining on a single server its external facing web services with new WebSphere-based services, using load balancing to securely manage external web traffic to its internal application layer. The web access solution Marsh was using previously would not work with this new configuration.
Pete Dunbar, European System i Team Leader, Non Intel and Storage at MMC Global Technology Infrastructure, explains, “This is where aXes stepped in. It worked first time. aXes allowed us to achieve a major cost saving and, as a bonus, also achieve a further cost saving on annual maintenance compared to the solution we were previously using. aXes was easy to deploy and our brokers found it easy to use. We found LANSA’s technical support to be first rate.
